Dark Passion Play is the upcoming sixth studio album of the Finnish symphonic power metal band Nightwish. It is scheduled for release on September 26, 2007 through Spinefarm and on September 28, 2007 through Nuclear Blast and Roadrunner Records. Including the EP Over the Hills and Far Away from 2001, and their first demo (see Demo (Nightwish)) from 1996, it is the band's eighth album. It is the first studio album to feature the new lead vocalist Anette Olzon and without former vocalist Tarja Turunen, due to her departure in October 2005. It is the band's first newly recorded album in three years, the longest non-album gap of their history (except the live DVD/CD End of an Era from the Once tour and compilations).

The first single, "Eva", was released on May 25, 2007[3]. It is a radio single only. On August 24[4] (about a month before the album release), the second single entitled "Amaranth" will be released as a normal single.

The band is as they were in the recordings of Once cooperating with the London Session Orchestra. Founder of the band, keyboardist and main songwriter, Tuomas Holopainen once said that people might be wondering what's going on, with all these musicians running out and in to the recording building in London[5].

The first information about the album was revealed together with the information about the two first singles on February 19 on the official website[6]. On April 1, an official announcement from Nightwish claimed that the new title was revealed together with a promo of the album and the cover. Though, it was later stated in another official announcement that is was all an April fool's joke (see Faster Harder Nightwish).

Nightwish has made the most expensive album in Finnish music history. They didn't save anything doing Dark Passion Play released in September.

- Making the album cost 500 000 euros. We made not one compromise because of money. We didn't hold anything back, and so nothing was left to bother us later. We did everything the best we could, confesses the Nightwish-boss Tuomas Holopainen

- This album was two times as expensive as the previous one. Once cost 230 000 euros.

The most of the money ended up in the Abbey Roads studios, just like when making Once, where the new album was recorded with the symphony orchestra. They didn't save money making the videos either. The band returned from Los Angeles a couple of days ago where Antti Jokinen directed the videos for Nightwish's two new singles.

- The videos were alltoghether 270 000 euros. We saved money, time and trouble when we made two videos at the same time, justifies Tuomas.

The new album has cost almost 800 000 euros including the marketing costs, but Tuomas is not terrified.

- I'm not scared. We've made the best we can at the moment. Nothing was left to bother us when making the album, so this will have to do.

a chinjenica je da cjemo sve da vezujemo za Tarju, ili da upucjujemo ka njoj...

Sahara je i mene prvo podsetilo na film sa penelope cruz
ali u principu, dobri su naslovi......sem bye,bye beautiful, taj je retardiran

Mozda je ta pesma nastala povodom tog filma...jer je za onu 7 days to the wolves Tomica rekao da je o nekoj knjizi Stivena Kinga...pa posto gospodinu verovatno posnestaje sopstvene inspiracije mora da se koristi modern media stvarima
